Dr. Rose has over 30 years of experience in various helping-profession roles, including over 15 of clinical mental health work in both community mental health and private practice settings. An Associate Professor and Program Coordinator in Bowling Green State University’s Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling Programs, Dr. Rose has a passion for working directly with clients. That is why he is continues to provide psychotherapy services part-time. He views individuals from a developmental approach, recognizing we all develop into the people we are; and how all of us sometimes need assistance in making positive changes or adjustments for our wellbeing.
Dr. Rose is one of the few true LGBQQIAAPP+ & Trans/Gender Expansive Affirmative Therapists & Supervisors in the area. He is integrative in his clinical theory and techniques. He views the therapeutic relationship as a team approach, where is he a tool for clients to utilize in achieving their full potential, improvement, healing, and overall wellness. Clinically, his areas of foci include LGBQQIAAPP+, Trans/Gender Expansive, varied relationship orientations (e.g., poly, open), trauma, mood, personality, HIV/AIDS, and human trafficking. He is also available for psychological, personality, and career assessments.
Dr. Rose is available for numerous assessment services. Dr. Rose has advanced training and supervision in psychopathology assessment, and over 10 years of experience providing assessment-specific clinical services.
Assessment services includes assessment and referral letter for trans-related health services (and within WPATH Standards of Care); law enforcement candidate evaluation; and core psychological and personality assessments. He can be contracted by other clinicians on behalf of their clients, or by individuals directly. In situations for law enforcement candidate assessment, an authorized liaison for the police department is welcome to reach out for further information.
Examples include, but are not limited to, WPATH-focused trans-evaluation; the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory 3 (MMPI-3) - including Police Candidate Interpretive Report in cases of law enforcement assessment; the Millon Multiaxial Inventory III and IV (MCMI-III, MCMI-IV); the NEO Personality Inventory Revised (NEO-PI-R); the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory 4 (SASSI-4); and the Self-Directed Search (SDS) for both professional and leisure activity exploration.
Dr. Rose is available for clinical supervision, particularly (although not exclusively) for those seeking Affirmative Supervision to work from an affirmative therapeutic approach with LGBQQIAAPP+ and Trans/Gender Expansive individuals. Clinical supervision is possible in person or via distance counseling/telemental health mechanisms.
Please note that supervision services are currently not available for interns; rather, only for already licensed individuals seeking higher-level licensure, supervisory endorsement, or in remediation with a licensure board.

Dr. Rose has produced more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, state-wide education curricula, and public media outlets; provided over 150 conference presentations and educational trainings at regional, state, national, and international arenas; keynoted numerous conferences; and given over 30 educational television and radio broadcasts.
Dr. Rose is available for trainings in his areas of expertise including LGBQQIAAPP+ and Trans/Gender Expansive, HIV/AIDS, and human trafficking. He has also been requested a lot for keynotes and featured sessions, particularly given his long history of professional service leadership.
